Skiing Tips.... Your guide to skiing right!

First off let me say, I by no means am a professional ski instructor. If you get hurt by my tips, you are held responsible. Skiing is a dangerous sport and by taking part in skiing, you must understand that.

CARVE this is the way you are supposed to ski on shaped skis. It consists of keeping your skis 1-3 feet apart throught the ski run. Your tracks from carving should be like a railroad track, parallel the whole time. Also when you ski the CARVE style, you must use your edges and then when you turn snow shouldn't come out from behind your skis.

BIG AIR is when you go off a big jump, thus getting big air. You can perform many tricks, such as a mute, iron cross, 180, 360 and a grab. My favorite is a mute. When you ski into the jump, have a wide base with your legs, and have an athletic stance. When you reach the top of the jump, spring up from your knees to create what is called "Pop". Pop will give you some more air. Now you should do a trick. A mute is simply crossing your skis and bringing them to your side, then uncrossing them for landing. A Iron Cross is when you cross your skis like the mute, but bring them behind you. A simple grab to do is just to reach down and tuch the front binding of either ski. For a 360 or 180, all you have to do is spin in the air. Easier said then done. Make sure that you "wind up" by swinging your arms to one side and then swinging them back the other way to start the spin. If you 180, it is recommended that you have twin tip skis, where there is a tip on the fromt and back of the ski.
